Michael Wayne Atha, better known as Yelawolf, was born on December 30, 1979, in Gadsden, Alabama, and raised between Alabama and Tennessee. His upbringing shaped his unique mix of Southern rap and rock influences. Yelawolf began his music career in 2005, creating mixtapes that gained attention locally. His breakthrough came with the 2010 mixtape Trunk Muzik, which later led to a deal with Interscope Records and the release of an enhanced version, Trunk Muzik 0-60.
In 2011, Yelawolf signed with Eminem's Shady Records, marking a major step in his career. Under this label, he released his second album, Radioactive, which reached number 27 on the Billboard 200.
