Troye Sivan Mellet (born June 5, 1995) was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is an Australian singer, actor, and former YouTuber. He is professionally known as Troye Sivan. Initially gaining popularity as a YouTube personality, Troye regularly uploaded video blogs, amassing over 7.3 million subscribers and more than 1.3 billion total views by 2021. With his diverse talents and creative endeavors, Troye Sivan continues to captivate audiences worldwide, leaving a lasting impact on both the music and film industries.
In 2013, Sivan signed with EMI Australia after gaining recognition as a singer on YouTube and participating in Australian talent competitions. He released his third extended play, titled TRXYE, in 2014, which achieved great success, reaching number five on the US Billboard 200 chart. The EP's lead single, "Happy Little Pill," also made its mark by reaching number ten on Australian music charts. The following year, Troye released his fourth extended play, Wild, followed by his debut studio album, Blue Neighbourhood. The album's lead single, "Youth," became his first song to enter the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 23.
Troye's musical journey began with performances at the Channel Seven Perth Telethon in 2006, 2007, and 2008, where he showcased his vocal talent. In 2006, he even had the opportunity to perform a duet with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian. He also reached the finals of StarSearch 2007. Troye released his debut EP, Dare to Dream, in June 2007. As an actor, Sivan has showcased his skills on the big screen. He portrayed a younger version of Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and starred as the lead character in the Spud film trilogy. Troye's talent has been recognized with several awards, including the GLAAD Stephen F. Kolzak Award in 2017, making him the youngest recipient of this honor. In 2018, he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song for "Revelation," a track from the film Boy Erased, where he also had a supporting acting role.
