He began his music career by releasing a series of mixtapes with the help of fellow West Coast rapper JT the Bigga Figga. The Game's debut independent album, Untold Story, was released in 2004, which led to him being discovered by Dr. Dre and signed to Aftermath Records.
In 2005, the Game released his major-label debut album, The Documentary, which became a huge commercial success. The New York Times named Doctor's Advocate the best hip-hop album of 2006.
Despite his success, the Game had a falling out with 50 Cent, and he left Aftermath Records to sign with Geffen, which was another label under Universal's Interscope Geffen A&M unit. The Game's next album, LAX, was released in 2008 and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200.
The Game continued to release successful albums throughout the 2010s, including The R.E.D. Album, Jesus Piece, The Documentary 2, The Documentary 2.5, and 1992. In 2019, the Game released Born 2 Rap, which he announced to be his final studio album.
