The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers are an American electronic dance music (EDM) DJ and production duo consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. The duo formed in 2012 and gained international recognition with their hit single "#Selfie" in 2014. Andrew Taggart was born on December 31, 1989, in Portland, Maine. He started playing music at an early age and was a member of a band in high school. He attended Syracuse University, where he studied music business, and began DJing in college.

Alex Pall was born on May 16, 1985, in New York City. He attended New York University, where he studied art history and music business. Pall began DJing at the age of 19 and was working as a part-time art gallery assistant when he met Taggart. The duo met through a mutual friend in 2012 and began collaborating on music.
