Paul van Haver (born March 12, 1985) was born in Etterbeek, Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium. He is a Belgian singer, rapper, songwriter and producer. He is professionally known as Stromae. His music blends hip hop, electronic sounds, and often carries deep messages. He first gained widespread recognition in 2009 with his hit single “Alors on danse” from the album Cheese. This track became a number one hit across Europe, marking his breakthrough into the international music scene. His unique sound and ability to connect with listeners through relatable themes have made him stand out.
In 2013, Stromae released his second album Racine carrée (Square Root), which was a massive commercial success. It sold over two million copies in France alone and featured chart-topping singles like “Papaoutai” and “Formidable.” These tracks touched on personal and emotional topics, like absent fathers and societal pressures, further highlighting his talent for storytelling through music.
