About Spiritbox
Spiritbox is a heavy metal band from Canada, founded in Victoria, British Columbia, in 2017 by guitarist Mike Stringer and vocalist Courtney LaPlante. The band also includes drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert. LaPlante and Stringer, who are married, started Spiritbox to explore their creative freedom after leaving their previous band, Iwrestledabearonce. They blend metalcore and progressive metal with electronic elements, creating a unique sound influenced by various metal subgenres.
The band began with their debut EP, Spiritbox (2017), followed by Singles Collection (2019), which helped them gain attention online. Using music videos to reach fans globally, they focused on building a digital presence before performing live. Their breakout moment came in 2020 when they started touring and releasing singles that charted on Billboard.
