    About Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol is a rock band from Northern Ireland and Scotland, formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. The band includes Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), and Johnny McDaid (guitar, piano, keyboards, backing vocals). Gary Lightbody is the only original member still in the band. They started as Polarbear and released the EP Starfighter Pilot in 1997. After changing their name to Snow Patrol and adding Jonny Quinn as the drummer, they released their first two albums, Songs for Polarbears (1998) and When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up (2001), under Jeepster Records. These albums did not sell well.

In 2002, they signed with Polydor Records. Nathan Connolly joined as lead guitarist. Their first major-label album, Final Straw, came out in 2003. The hit song "Run" made them famous in the UK, and the album went 5× platinum. In 2005, Paul Wilson replaced McClelland. Their next album, Eyes Open (2006), featured the hit single "Chasing Cars." This song became the most-played song on UK radio in the 21st century as of 2019. The album was a huge success, topping the UK Albums Chart and becoming the best-selling British album of the year.
