Alexander Eli Morand, born in 1997 in Toronto, Ontario, is a Canadian rapper widely recognized as Smiley. He gained fame as part of Drake's OVO Sound and Warner Records. Smiley’s music career began in 2014 when he started rapping with his group, Garden Gang. His 2015 track, “9 on Me,” caught the attention of renowned producer Boi-1da, and songs like “Garden Girl” further boosted his popularity.
In 2017, Smiley had his first interaction with Drake, who later signed him to OVO Sound. That same year, Drake quoted Smiley’s lyrics in a public statement, giving him additional exposure.
