Osinachi Kalu Okoro Egbu (born March 30, 1972) was born in Afikpo South, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. She is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and senior worship leader with over 30 years of experience in the music industry. She is professionally known as Sinach. She has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent and contribution to the gospel music genre.
One of Sinach's notable achievements is being the first singer-songwriter to top the Billboard Christian Songwriter chart for 12 consecutive weeks, a feat she accomplished in 2020. She has also won several awards, including the Song of the Year at the 51st GMA Dove Awards, making her the first Nigerian to win the award. Additionally, she won the BMI song of the year and was recognized by the US Congress during her tour in the United States of America.
Sinach has released nine studio albums with several hit songs, including "Way Maker," "I Know Who I Am," "Great Are You Lord," "Rejoice," and "He Did It Again." "Way Maker," in particular, has gained massive recognition and awards since its release in 2015. The song's music video is currently the second most-watched Nigerian music video on YouTube, and it has been covered by over 60 Christian artists in various languages.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, "Way Maker" became the go-to song, as several viral videos in hospitals and parks were made with large numbers of people singing the song. In June 2020, the song claimed the No. 1 position on the Christian Copyright Licensing International top 100 chart, making it the most played song in churches across the United States for 2020.
