About Scorpions
The Scorpions are a German hard rock band formed in 1965 in Hanover by guitarist Rudolf Schenker. Known for their powerful melodies and timeless rock anthems, the band gained fame with a lineup that included Schenker, Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Francis Buchholz (bass), and Herman Rarebell (drums) during their most successful years from 1978 to 1992. Schenker has been the band’s only constant member, while Meine has been with them since their first album, Lonesome Crow (1972). Jabs joined in 1978, and their current lineup includes bassist Paweł Mąciwoda (2003) and drummer Mikkey Dee (2016).
The Scorpions' early albums, like Fly to the Rainbow (1974) and Virgin Killer (1976), featured Uli Jon Roth, who shaped their initial heavy sound. By 1979, with Lovedrive, they shifted toward a more melodic rock style, reuniting briefly with Michael Schenker, Rudolf's brother. Their 1980s albums, including Blackout (1982), Love at First Sting (1984), and Savage Amusement (1988), achieved massive global success, earning platinum and multi-platinum certifications in the U.S.
