Paramore is a highly successful American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, that was formed in 2004. The band's current lineup comprises lead vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro. Williams and Farro are founding members of the group, while York joined in 2007, after being a high school friend of the original lineup.
The band is signed to Fueled by Ramen, which is a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, both of which are owned by Warner Music Group. Williams was also signed to Atlantic as a solo artist when she was a teenager, but they allowed her to stay in the band, provided the rest of the group signed with Fueled by Ramen. Williams is the only member who has appeared on all six of Paramore's studio albums.
In 2005, Paramore released its debut album, All We Know Is Falling, which reached number four on the UK Rock Chart in 2009 and number thirty on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart in 2006. The band's second album, Riot!, released in 2007, was a major success thanks to the singles "Misery Business," "Crushcrushcrush," and "That's What You Get." The album was certified Platinum in the United States, and Paramore received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
The band's third album, Brand New Eyes, released in 2009, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and produced the top-forty single "The Only Exception." The album went platinum in Ireland and the UK and was certified gold in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
After the departure of Josh and Zac Farro in 2010, the band released its self-titled fourth album, Paramore, in 2013. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and was also the number one album in several other countries, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico. The album featured the hit singles "Still Into You" and "Ain't It Fun," which won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song, marking the band's first Grammy win.
Following this album cycle, the band's lineup changed once again, with bassist Jeremy Davis leaving the band in 2015 and former drummer Zac Farro rejoining the band in 2017. In May 2017, Paramore released its fifth studio album, After Laughter, which received critical acclaim. The band's sixth studio album, This Is Why, was released in February 2023, also to critical acclaim. Throughout its career, Paramore has established itself as a significant force in the rock music scene, with its catchy and energetic songs, and Williams' powerful vocals.
