    About Nightwish

Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland. Formed in 1996 by Tuomas Holopainen (keyboardist and songwriter), Emppu Vuorinen (guitarist), and Tarja Turunen (former lead singer), the band quickly gained members, adding drummer Jukka Nevalainen and bassist Sami Vänskä. Their first album, "Angels Fall First," came out in 1997. Nightwish was inducted into the Finnish Music Hall of Fame on October 26, 2018. The band's early albums like "Oceanborn" (1998), "Wishmaster" (2000), and "Century Child" (2002) brought them fame in Finland.

However, they achieved wider success with their 2004 album "Once," which sold over a million copies. Their hit single "Wish I Had an Angel" got MTV airplay and was featured in three US film soundtracks. In 2005, lead singer Tarja Turunen was dismissed, and in 2007, Anette Olzon took her place. That same year, they released "Dark Passion Play," which sold nearly 2 million copies. The single "Amaranth" was a big hit in Europe. Their next album, "Imaginaerum," came out in 2011.
