    About MUNA

MUNA is an indie-pop band from Los Angeles, made up of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson. They formed in 2013 while attending the University of Southern California, where Gavin and Maskin were music majors, and McPherson double-majored in narrative studies and American studies. Originally playing ska and progressive rock, the band shifted toward pop when they started working with Gavin as the vocalist, blending electronic hooks and catchy melodies. The Band got honor of the 50th anniversary of the first LGBTQ pride parade in June 2020, Queerty named Muna among the fifty heroes "leading the nation toward equality, acceptance, and dignity for all people".

In 2014, MUNA self-released their debut EP, More Perfect, on Bandcamp, which led to a deal with RCA Records. Their first major EP, Loudspeaker, followed in 2016, and they released their debut album, About U, in 2017. Known for their emotionally honest lyrics and celebration of queer love, the band gained a loyal fan base. MUNA's song "I Know a Place" became especially popular, being featured in films like The Carmilla Movie and Alex Strangelove.
