Emma Ruth Rundle (born October 10, 1983) was born in Los Angeles, California, United States. She is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and visual artist. She has made a significant impact on the music scene. She has gained recognition through her solo work as well as her involvement with bands such as the Nocturnes, Marriages, and Red Sparowes.
Rundle's musical journey began with the formation of her first band, the Nocturnes, which saw the release of the Wellington EP in 2008, followed by two albums, "A Year of Spring" in 2009 and "Aokigahara" in 2011. During this time, she also joined Red Sparowes and contributed to their third album, "The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies the Answer," released in 2010.
In addition to her band affiliations, Rundle embarked on a solo career and self-released an ambient guitar album titled "Electric Guitar: One" in 2011. The album was later reissued in 2014 by Errant Child Recordings. In 2012, she formed the trio Marriages, which released the Kitsune EP in 2012, followed by the full-length album "Salome" in 2015.
Continuing her diverse musical exploration, Rundle released the album "Somnambulant" in 2013, credited to The Headless Prince of Zolpidem. This album showcased her venture into downtempo and dark wave electronic music. Her second solo work, "Some Heavy Ocean," produced by Chris Common and recorded at the Sargent House studio, was released in 2014. It was during this time that Rundle faced the challenges of adenomyosis, which influenced her third album, "Marked for Death," produced by Sonny DiPerri and released in October 2016.
Collaboration has also been an essential aspect of Rundle's career. In 2017, she released a split EP with Jaye Jayle, titled "The Time Between Us," featuring the captivating song "The Distance." Furthermore, Rundle contributed backing vocals to the song "Just Breathe" on Thrice's 2018 album "Palms." Her fourth studio album, "On Dark Horses," was released in September 2018 and featured contributions from Evan Patterson, Todd Cook, and Dylan Nadon.
