    Adele Emily Sandé (born March 10, 1987) was born in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. She is a renowned Scottish singer-songwriter. She is professionally known as Emeli Sandé. She grew up in Alford, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, with her English mother and Zambian father. Emeli's musical career started when she was featured on rapper Chipmunk's 2009 hit single "Diamond Rings", which became her first top 10 single on the UK Singles Chart. Soon after, she collaborated with rapper Wiley on "Never Be Your Woman," which was another chart-topping success.

    In 2012, Emeli received the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards, which is presented to new and emerging British artists. Her solo career took off with the release of her debut single "Heaven" in August 2011, followed by her album "Our Version of Events" in 2012. The album spent ten non-consecutive weeks at number one and was the best-selling album of 2012 in the UK, with over 1 million sales. The album features hit singles such as "Read All About It" with Professor Green and "Beneath Your Beautiful," a collaboration with Labrinth, both of which reached number one in the UK and Ireland.
