Edge of Paradise is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2011. The band consists of Margarita Monet (vocals/keys), Dave Bates (guitar), David Ruiz (guitar), Jamie Moreno (drums), and Kenny Lockwood (bass). Known for their heavy guitars, industrial influences, and classical touches, they stand out with Monet's powerful vocal range. In 2012, Monet was recognized in Metalholic’s “Top 25 Women in Hard Rock and Metal.”
The band was formed when Monet met guitarist Dave Bates during a freelance project. Bates, who had previously played in the band "Bleed," brought his unreleased songs to Edge of Paradise, and they became part of the band’s debut album, Mask. Released in September 2011 by Melrose Music Studios, the album featured a rhythm section with drummer Gregg Bissonette and bassist Tony Franklin.
Their second album, Immortal Waltz, came out in 2015 via Pure Steel Records and Soulfood. Produced by Michael Wagener, it received attention for its unique blend of rock and symphonic elements. The singles "In a Dream" and "Rise for the Fallen" were featured in music videos premiered by Revolver magazine, and the album was voted "Album of the Week" by Revolver readers.
In 2017, Edge of Paradise released the Alive EP, which was a shift towards a more industrial sound. It entered the Billboard charts, with notable positions on the Current Hard Music Albums chart and Top New Artist Albums chart. The EP received praise from critics, with Bravewords calling it "a whole new world, another planet." The title track "Alive" was accompanied by a music video premiered on Metal Underground and released on Vevo.
The band’s third studio album, Universe, was released in August 2019. Edge of Paradise continues to evolve, blending different musical elements to craft their unique sound. With their growing fanbase and acclaim, they are regarded as a rising force in the hard rock scene.
