About Duran Duran
Duran Duran is a British pop rock band formed in Birmingham in 1978. The original members included singer Stephen Duffy, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, and guitarist/bassist John Taylor, with the classic line-up solidifying in 1980 when Simon Le Bon, Andy Taylor, and Roger Taylor joined. Known for their role in the New Romantic movement, Duran Duran quickly became one of the most prominent bands of the 1980s, with their music videos playing a crucial role in their rise to fame.
Their breakthrough came with their 1981 hit "Girls on Film," made even more popular by its controversial music video. The band's second album, Rio (1982), became a worldwide success, featuring hits like "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Rio," both of which were accompanied by cinematic music videos directed by Russell Mulcahy. In 1984, they reached the height of their fame, with their album Seven and the Ragged Tiger hitting number one in the UK, and the single "The Reflex" topping charts in both the US and UK.
