Khaled Mohammed Khaled (born November 26, 1975) was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He is an American DJ, record executive, record producer and rapper. He is professionally known as DJ Khaled. He rose to prominence in the 1990s as a radio host on Miami's 99 Jamz station. He gained further recognition by working as a DJ for hip hop collective Terror Squad's live performances, which led to him producing their music.
In 2006, Khaled released his debut album, Listennn... the Album, which was certified gold. He followed it up with We the Best (2007), which contained the hit single "I'm So Hood". Khaled went on to establish his own record label, We the Best Music Group, and released two more successful albums, We Global (2008) and Victory (2010). The latter contained the triple platinum hit single "All I Do Is Win".
Khaled continued his success with his fifth studio album, We the Best Forever (2011), which featured the hit single "I'm on One". The album helped him gain international recognition and solidified his position as a prominent figure in hip hop. He followed it up with Kiss the Ring (2012) and Suffering from Success (2013), both of which charted in the top ten on the Billboard 200. His eighth studio album, I Changed a Lot (2015), peaked at number 12 on the same chart.
In 2015 and 2016, Khaled became known for his social media presence, which propelled him to even greater fame. He released his ninth studio album, Major Key, in 2016, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold. The album also received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.
Khaled's tenth studio album, Grateful, was released in 2017 and featured the chart-topping singles "I'm the One" and "Wild Thoughts". The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. His eleventh album, Father of Asahd, was released in 2019 and peaked at number two on the same chart. The song "Higher" from the album won Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, earning Khaled his first Grammy win.
Aside from his success in music, Khaled has also found success as a writer. His book, The Keys, was a New York Times Best Seller. He has also made appearances in movies such as Spies in Disguise (2019) and Bad Boys for Life (2020). With his talent and entrepreneurial spirit, DJ Khaled continues to make a mark in the music industry and beyond.
