Charlotte Emma Aitchison (born August 2, 1992) was born in Cambridge, England. She is an English singer and songwriter. She is professionally known as Charli XCX. She grew up in Start Hill, Essex, where she began sharing her music on Myspace in 2008. Her talent was quickly discovered by a promoter who invited her to perform at warehouse raves, marking the beginning of her music career.
In 2010, Charli XCX signed a recording contract with Asylum Records, and throughout 2011 and 2012, she released a series of successful singles and mixtapes. However, it wasn't until 2012 when she collaborated with Swedish duo Icona Pop on the hit song "I Love It" that Charli XCX rose to prominence. The song reached the top 10 in the United States and Europe and was nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Song at the Billboard Music Awards.
In 2014, Charli XCX achieved commercial success with "Fancy," a collaboration with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. The song received numerous awards and nominations worldwide, including two Grammy Award nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Additionally, the song won the Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Song and received four nominations at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year and Best Pop Video.
During the same year, Charli XCX released "Boom Clap," a song for the 2014 romance film The Fault in Our Stars.
