"Billlie" is a South Korean girl group that was formed in 2021 under the management of Mystic Story. Comprising seven talented members, namely Moon Sua, Suhyun, Haram, Tsuki, Shion, Shiyun, and Haruna, the group made an impressive debut on November 10, 2021, with their EP titled "The Billage of Perception: Chapter One."
The unique spelling of their name, "Billlie," with three consecutive "Ls," holds a special significance. It is derived from the combination of the Korean word for rain, "Bi," the number "11," and the word "lie," forming "Bi11lie." The mysterious meaning behind the number "11" was unveiled during their debut showcase. According to their captivating legend, when the 11th bell tolls amidst a torrent of purple rain, peculiar events unfold. The girls, in order to safeguard these inexplicable happenings, weave a web of lies to keep the secrets hidden. Additionally, they revealed that the name Billlie reflects their desire to express the "B-sides," the inner essence that resides within every individual. Prior to their debut as Billlie, the members were part of Mystic Rookies, a trainee development program nurtured by Mystic Story. On September 14, the company announced their plans to debut the Mystic Rookies in November 2021. Subsequently, on October 11, it was revealed that the group would be named Billlie, which sparked excitement and anticipation among their growing fanbase.
Before her debut with Billlie, Moon Sua had dedicated ten years of her life as a trainee under YG Entertainment. Her exceptional talent and passion for music shone through when she participated in the show "Unpretty Rapstar 2," where she showcased her skills and secured a remarkable third place.
Another member, Suhyun, gained recognition through her participation in the survival show "Produce 101," where she exhibited her potential as an artist, despite being eliminated in the fifth episode and placing 69th. She further demonstrated her versatility by taking part in the JTBC survival show "Mix Nine" and captivating audiences with her acting skills in the 2018 web drama "A-Teen" and its 2019 sequel, "A-Teen 2."
